The deadline to apply is February 28th 2012. Feel free to share this information and pass along to students that may be interested. Selected students are awarded up to $4,000 each academic year for 2 to 4 years to use towards tuition, textbooks, supplies and living expenses. RBC awards 10 scholarships in two categories: – For students majoring in disciplines related to the financial services industry – For students majoring in disciplines unrelated to the financial services industry. They also consider scholarship recipients who are interested in careers in financial services for summer and post-graduate employment!http://rbc.com/careers/aboriginal_student_awards.html  

Background

On February 21, 2006, the Moose Cree Education Enhancement Fund was incorporated. The Enhancement Fund seeks to enhance, promote, and foster the social, economic, cultural and political well-being of members of the Moose Cree First Nation.

The Moose Cree Education Enhancement Fund has been established by the Moose Cree Education Authority as an independent body governed by its own Board of Directors. This Board will seek to acquire both public and private sponsors who advocate the pursuit of educational goals and aspirations.

Education is a partnership of families and community, and is a wise and profitable investment not only for our children’s future, but also for our communities at large. Through this scholarship and bursary initiative we desire to provide tangible support and encouragement for students and lifelong learners enabling them to successfully pursue their educational goals and aspirations.

Scholarship & Bursary Objective

To support and promote the enhancement of education of Moose Cree First Nation Post- Secondary students by providing scholarships and bursaries through a selection process.

Eligibility

Who is eligible to apply to the Moose Cree Education Enhancement Fund for a scholarship & bursary?

  • Must be a registered Moose Cree First Nation member
  • Enrolled full time as a continuing student in an accredited post-secondary institution

Program and Service Enhancement Objective

To promote and enhance educational programs and services to the Moose Cree First Nation.

A financial contribution to assist the enhancement of eligible educational programs and services delivered to Moose Cree First Nation members who meet the established criteria listed.
Who is eligible to apply to the Moose Cree Education Enhancement Fund for program and services enhancement assistance?

  • Must be delivering educational program or services to registered Moose Cree First Nation members
  • Aboriginal Head Start (Early Years), Child Care, Elementary, Secondary or Community Livings Skills.
  1. You are required to provide the following:
      • name of contact person
      • name of organization
      • name of current program or service
  2. Number of First Nation members served
  3. Proposed program or services budget
  4. Outline of proposed program or service enhancements including:
      • objectives
      • timeline
  5. Support Letter
  6. Submit application with supporting documents within deadline date.

Successful applicants are required to submit a report within thirty (30) days upon completion of their project. The report shall outline:

  • Outcomes
  • Recommendations

 

Official correspondence accompanied with a cheque noting the amount of the enhancement funds will be issued in the name of the program or service.

Disbursed Funds

During the last two academic years, the Moose Cree Education Enhancement Fund Board of Directors disbursed the following amounts.

In the 2009-2010 academic year, the Board of Directors disbursed seventeen thousand dollars ($17,000.00) to eligible Moose Cree First Nation band members.

In the 2010-2011 academic year, the Board of Directors disbursed eighteen thousand and eight hundred dollars ($18,800.00) to eligible Moose Cree First Nation band members.

Financial Contribution

If your organization is interested in partnering with us through a financial contribution in assisting the Enhancement Fund achieve its objectives, the Moose Cree Education Enhancement Fund is officially registered with charitable status and provides an official receipt for any funds received by Corporate or Private Sponsors.

Any contribution can be issued by cheque, made out to the Moose Cree Education Enhancement Fund. All contributions shall be acknowledged and issued an official receipt.
