Moose Factory Aboriginal Head Start
& Early Years Satellite Program

The Aboriginal Head Start On-Reserve and Ontario Early Years Satellite Programs have been in operation for 3 years. We service families with children 0-6 years old in Moose Factory, Ontario. Our programs are designed to prepare young children for their school years. The following components are weaved into daily programming – Culture and Language; Parental and Family Involvement; Education; Nutrition; Health and Well-Being; and Social Support. The Aboriginal HeadStart program is funded through Health Canada and the Early Years program is funded by the Ontario Early Years Lead Agency in Timmins.
Parents and Caregivers are encouraged to come out and spend some time with other families. We offer many activities, free of charge, which include Pre-School Library, Family Gym Time, Creation Station, Breakfast and Circle Time and many more. The Aboriginal HeadStart team also participates in community events such as the Gathering of Our People, Week of the Child, FASD Awareness Day, Family Literacy Day, National Addictions Awareness Week, and all of the seasonal and special occasions. It is a great opportunity for parents to socialize with other parents and discuss topics in common. Your child is also learning socialization skills with also developing his/her language skills and fine motor skills.
The site is located on the first floor of the Chief Munroe Linklater Sr. Memorial Education Centre, at 25 Pedabun Road, Moose Factory, Ontario.

Hours of Operation
Programs:
Our programs usually run for 2 hours – morning, afternoon, or evening.
We put out a monthly calendar and newsletter.
Administration:
8:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
