Although similar to Committees, MCEA Councils have greater scope of responsibility for their particular program they work with.

DDECS Composite School Council

The Council shall be established by the Education Authority through Board Resolution with the responsibility to oversee the management and administration of the School.

To foster and support school spirit, founded upon the aspirations and participation of the community through the development and integration of local Cree lifestyle, history, traditions, values, language and culture.

To promote Excellence in Education as being achieved through:

  • the promotion of high standards of achievement;
  • the provision of the basic skills acquired for active, compassionate participation in family, community, province, nation, and in a global society;
  • the cultivation of a love for learning, respect for the environment;
  • a recognition of the values of diversity among learners and communities; and
  • Willingness to explore creative educational alternatives.

The Parents Council shall be established by the Authority through Board Resolution with the responsibility to monitor the delivery of services provided through the Centre consistent with the Day Nurseries Act and in accordance with the Board’s established Policies and Procedures supporting in the day to day administrative operations and to ensure a high level of integrity in program delivery, performance and accountability.
